We draw our spiritual inspiration from the Celto-Roman period, when
the native Celtic and conquering Roman cultures dwelt together and intermingled.
For more on our tradition, see the Classical-Celtic
Wicca page, which includes a list of deities and a list of books
to help you learn more.
Our open Full Moon rituals alternate between a "Goddess" ritual, honoring
the Triple Mothers, and a "God" ritual honoring Jupiter Cernunnos. Dates
and other information will be announced in the EarthTides
Pagan Network newsletter, on the Maine
Pagan Mailing List, and at The
Witches' Voice Maine page.
Those seeking training are welcome to attend one or more of our open
rituals, and to seek further contact. Apprenticeships in the Temple
of Brigantia require a long-term commitment and serious work on our
part and on yours; we offer them gladly, but do not enter into them
lightly.
Our practice grows out of years of Wiccan training and teaching, and
strives for a balance between masculine and feminine energies, with
an emphasis on earning respect through positive and ethical words and
actions. We are committed to seeking accurate information on the practices
of ancient religions while adapting them to the needs of the modern
world.
General advice for Temple of Brigantia rituals:
- Bring food or drink for yourself and some to share. If unsure what
to bring, ask.
- Wear clothes, bearing in mind that the ritual space is likely to
be warm in summer and cold in winter. We wear black robes, but you
needn't do so.
- Those under 18 may attend provided they are accompanied by a custodial
parent or have written permission from one.
- Children 9 and over are OK provided they are capable of standing
still and taking part in the ritual.
